Wetland in fall with water, trees and grasses

Ontario’s Biodiversity Strategy guides conservation across the province. It’s like a ‘to-do’ list for all people and sectors to protect and restore biodiversity.

The first strategy was created in 2005 and updated in 2011. It’s time to renew the strategy to 2030.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our public engagement in February and March 2023 to help inform and update the strategy! Stay tuned for our ‘what we heard’ report, and for the release of the renewed strategy in May 2023!

Want to learn more about the intent behind the Strategy’s targets and actions? Watch the recording of the webinar that took place on March 8, 2023 to learn more about how Ontario’s strategy connects to national and international efforts and listen to subject matter experts share their opinions about gaps and opportunities in the draft.

We also received more than 120 responses (with more than 1,100 comments) to inform the updates to the strategy. Curious about what the engagement included? You can read the workbook we used  (PDF for reference only – the engagement period has closed).
